The Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency (DMASWA), an intergovernmental entity charged with managing solid waste materials, will host a Hazardous Waste Generator Compliance workshop from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On Wednesday, March 7, at the Hotel Julien in Dubuque.
This informational event is open to all area businesses that generate and manage hazardous wastes at any time including industrial, commercial, and construction businesses. The registration fee is $20.00 and lunch will be provided. A workshop flyer, agenda and details for registering can be found at www,DMASWA.org.
The bulk of the workshop will consist of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) representatives reviewing the changes to EPA’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Improvement Rule. Participants will learn about hazardous waste minimization case studies from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Pollution Prevention Program and local disposal options from DMASWA representatives. Additional solid waste minimization resources, such as the Iowa Waste Exchange and the Petal Project will be discussed.
This workshop is possible through partnerships with the City of Dubuque, East Central Intergovernmental Association, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Iowa Waste Exchange.
