Appliances must be recycled in Iowa. DMASWA offers drop-off for appliance recycling at the landfill. The fee is $10 per appliance.
What is considered an appliance?
The following are common appliances and need to be recycled:
- Refrigerators
- Stoves
- Ovens
- Dishwashers
- Microwaves
- Freezers
- Clothes washers
- Clothes dryers
- Water heaters
- Air conditioners
- Furnaces
- Water softeners
Please stop at the scale house to pay and they will direct you to the drop-off location.
Alliant Energy Appliance Recycling Program
If you’re an electric customer in Iowa, you can receive an instant rebate when you recycle your old, working refrigerator or freezer. Alliant will haul it away and recycle it for free. Plus you’ll get up to a $50 rebate for each appliance you recycle.
