Recycle and Reuse Guide

What do you do with clothes that no longer fit or that toaster oven that you don't need anymore? What about those packing “peanuts” that came in Aunt Mary’s birthday gift, the three pairs of old eye glasses in your dresser drawer, or the old metal file cabinet in the garage? The following directory of facilities that reuse and recycle many household items was designed to answer these tricky questions and to help keep your waste out of the landfill. You'll see how one person's trash may be a valuable resource to someone else.

Never leave items outside a closed business. If you are donating items for reuse, only include items that are in good condition and working order. These agencies, businesses, and organizations provide a valuable service to our community; please respect them and do not use them as a dumping ground.

The following businesses and organizations in Dubuque and Delaware counties have requested to be part of this guide. Due to changes in the recycling industry and business community, there may be additional companies offering similar services and some of the businesses, agencies, and organizations listed may no longer offer the services listed. If your business or organization would like to be added to this list, please contact the Solid Waste Education Office at (563) 588-7933 or email beverly.wagner@loras.edu.
