The Dubuque Metropolitan Landfill is located on Highway 20 approximately 2.5 miles west of the Northwest Arterial intersection.

Disposal Fees
Effective as of July 1, 2008

Public Drop Off Area

A public drop off area is provided for residents to place trash. This is a clean, paved, convenient location to allow passenger vehicles to unload without entering the active fill areas. Customers should pay fees at the scale house before using the drop off.

Important! Children and pets must remain in the vehicle at all times. No scavenging is allowed in the landfill or recycling drop-off area.

Appliances: Appliances are accepted for a fee. All refrigerators, freezers, and microwaves must be empty and clean.

Electronics: Electronics are accepted for a fee and by appointment only. Call 563-589-1720 for pricing and to schedule a drop off time.

Asbestos: Asbestos may be disposed of at the landfill. Asbestos is only taken after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Call ahead for an appointment and disposal instructions.

Tires: Tires are accepted for a fee and should be off the rim.

Compost: Residential yard waste (grass, leaves, garden trimmings, and brush) can be disposed of for a fee. Compost is also available for purchase on a seasonal basis. Call 563-557-8220 for more information.

Materials Currently Banned From Being Buried in Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency's Landfill By Federal, State or Local Rules

• Television and Computer Monitors (Accepted for recycling for a fee - Banned from landfill from businesses only)
• Fluorescent Bulbs/ Ballasts (Banned from businesses only)
• Oil Filters (Banned from businesses only)
